HOW MANY VARIANTS OF MILK DO YOU OFFER?

We offer only one type of milk i.e. natural, pure and fresh cow milk.

HOW IS FAIR DAIRY’S MILK DIFFERENT?

Fair Dairy’s milk production and supply system is 100% traceable and can be traced to the farm. Our milk comes from a sustainable farm with fertile soil and ample fresh and clean water. All the green & nutritious fodder is organically grown at the same farm. The herd is healthy and happy where utmost care is taken to provide a comfortable environment to cows. Milking is done with automatic machines in hygienic conditions, untouched by hand. Milk is then immediately chilled and transported in the refrigerated trucks to our pasteurizing and packaging plant. Milk samples are tested in our fully equipped quality control lab. Milk is directly delivered to your home after testing and packaging. The cold chain is maintained throughout the process. Fair Dairy milk is pure, fresh and free of harmful additives. The complete supply chain is managed by Fair Dairy.

 

WHY DOES FAIR DAIRY MILK COST MORE?

Our milk costs more because it costs the dairy farm more to produce it.

Our milk is more expensive than milk supplied by large milk processing companies or an individual farmer because making a product that is traceable to a farm, pure, produced naturally, guarantees the highest animal welfare and is transported in temperature-controlled cold chain isn’t cheap or easy.

Specifically, superior quality cattle fodder and feed is more expensive, fewer cows can be farmed per acre of land and it can’t be produced in very large volumes. This means the farmer has to charge more for the milk to cover his costs for fodder, feed, labour and volume.  But there are none of the hidden environmental costs to pay. It’s around Rs. 1000 per month more for an average family of four to switch to farm-fresh ‘Fair Dairy’ pure milk with no unnatural additives, which we think is a great value, all things considered.

 

HOW IS YOUR MILK ANTIBIOTICS FREE?

We don’t treat our animals with antibiotics unless it is necessary; the same is applicable to humans. It is well-researched fact that the routine use of antibiotics is linked to the emergence of superbugs in animals, with potential long term unknown consequences for humans.
If our cow gets ill sometimes and there is no option but to treat her with an antibiotic, she is milked separately. We keep such cow’s milk out of the supply chain and we test her milk to ensure all traces of the medicine have gone before we bring her back into the milking herd. This procedure is practised to ensure that our milk is free of antibiotics.

IS YOUR MILK FREE OF HORMONES?

Yes, absolutely.

WHAT IS YOUR QUALITY CONTROL SYSTEM?

Milk is collected from the farm every day in a refrigerated truck. The milk is tested at the farm for a range of criteria. If the milk passes this initial tests, it begins its journey to our milk pasteurizing and packaging unit.

Our quality control team takes the sample of milk on arrival and test the samples at our in-house laboratory as part of in-process quality control. Final quality control of milk is done after pasteurizing process is complete.

Once the milk has passed all the necessary tests, it is packed and stored in a cold room at 4⁰ Celsius. Milk is delivered to our customers directly from our cold room.

WHY DO YOU USE POLY POUCH FOR PACKAGING RATHER USING GLASS OR PET BOTTLE?

We did our studies and found the best quality food grade poly pouch is optimally the most economical and environment-friendly means of packaging. It is recyclable. Using glass bottle is perceptibly eco-friendly but the amount of water used, energy required for heating and cleaning chemicals required to clean and reuse glass bottle makes it environmentally unfriendly. It also adds weight in transportation (both ways) and thereby increases the consumption of fossil fuel. PET bottles are discarded after each use, though these could be recycled but its higher cost gets passed on to the customer.

WHAT IS THE IDEAL TEMPERATURE TO TRANSPORT AND STORE MILK?

The ideal temperature for transportation and storage of milk is 4 °C

DOES FAIR DAIRY MILK REQUIRE BOILING BEFORE CONSUMPTION?

Our milk can be safely consumed without boiling at home as it is pasteurized milk. It could be consumed cold or warm, as per your need. In fact, we recommend not to boil the milk as its nutritious value gets reduced in the boiling process.

WHY WE DON’T CALL FAIR DAIRY’S MILK ORGANIC?

Our milk is as close to organic as it could be because we fulfil majority of criterion like our cows are fed 100% organically grown fodder but we don’t depend for disease prevention, parasitic control and disease treatment only on herbal, naturopathic, homeopathic treatments as it is a very risky proposition when one has a high quality and high value herd. We treat the herd with conventional medicines for prevention and treatment. However, we are extremely careful in using antibiotics and only use it as a last resort. We keep the time of withdrawal period longer than recommended and during this period milk of animal treated with antibiotics is rejected and not used for supply to our customers. We totally prohibit use of hormones. It is unfortunate that use of hormones such as rBGH (Recombinant Bovine Growth Hormone) and Oxytocin is rampant in India which is often used to increase milk production and cause easy letdown of milk.
